And in fact, I've got a great episode on podcasting that I'm going to share with you in the next few episodes. So make sure to look out for that in my launch episodes. And the whole concept and why I am launching with 10 episodes is because of what I learned inside of Courtney's program. So if you are loving this podcast and this episode, go ahead and leave us a review. All right, before we dive into today's episode, I want to say how much fun is tick tock? Are you on tick tock, I have to say I was hesitant at first I remember when my daughter first showed it to me, I thought oh, this is not something I want to partake in. There was all this dancing and silly things going on there. But earlier this year, I decided to start up the TIC tock and I've been making tic TOCs and really loving it. There are some really cool and fun features to play with. And I think why this platform has done really well. And it's so refreshing to see as well is that there's so much authenticity in the videos and the things that you see inside of TiC tock and it just feels like people are being just a little bit more real than before tick tock Instagram I love as well, but it just feels like it has more of that professional vibe. Like sometimes you feel like you wouldn't show up and do the same things on Instagram as you would on tick tock, do you get what I'm talking about? Have you ever felt that way as well. And so I'm just loving the Tick Tock for that very reason. And I also find it's been a really great way to connect with your community and build your audience. So if you're on Tik Tok, go ahead and search me up. It's Catherine underscore Beck underscore same as my Instagram. And let's connect over there. And the thing with Tiktok has really sparked this idea and these thoughts running around in my head about visibility. And you know, when you get those thoughts running around your head, it's good to either get them down on paper or say I'm on a podcast. So I'm going to say I'm on a podcast. So let's talk about visibility. And what does that mean? What does that mean to you? Well, I'll tell you what it means to me. It means putting yourself out there in front of people to get to know you and to get to know what you're all about who you are what you do. But here's one of the biggest mistakes I see so many people making online purchases. No brands getting out there. They make this mistake with visibility. Actually, there's a few mistakes. So let's go through them. Alright. The first one is following all the trends all and this is my favorite one, following all the trends, the dancing, the pointing, the lip syncing the viral things that everyone's doing and duplicating you might make it slightly different. Like, for example, your captions might say something that pertains to your business, but yet you're using the viral sound that totally doesn't go with what you're putting in the captions, but yet it's viral, so you're going to use it fine, whatever. If that floats your boat, go for it. For me, it does not float my boat because it just doesn't feel genuine and authentic to me. I'm not one to point, I am not one to dance, that's just out of my comfort zone. Instead, I'd rather use my voice which makes sense because I am a voice coach. So I use my voice. And I'd rather communicate through my voice to my audience. Now, does that mean that I've never done a trend? Yeah, I've done one or two. In fact, I did one recently, which was so much fun. It was the teenage dirtbag photos. Have you done that one? Have you seen mine, I loved it, because it gave me a chance to a listen to a song that I remember loving when, you know, I think there was was that back in the 90s or early 2000, I'd have to go back and do some research. But I got to listen to the song over and over again, as I was creating the Digg doc. And I love that song back in the day and find some old photos of myself, which brought back some really great memories. And I thought, Gosh, what a great way to share with your community, a little bit of your backstory, who you are, who you were back then in your teenage years, and it was so much fun. So every now and then I will do one of those viral, you know, tic TOCs, or reels or things going around. But it's not something I'm consistently doing. So I would say that would be 5% of my visibility online is the virals, and look, I'm not gonna tell you what to do with your visibility and the content that you create. But I do want you to consider this, that when you're following all the trends you're following, when you are creating new trends? Well, you are the creator, you are the thought leader. And for me, I'd rather be a leader than a follower any day. And here's the thing, there's no new ideas per se, but the way you uniquely are and the way you uniquely voice, your version of those ideas. That's what's special. And that's what's going to connect with your audience is you and your thoughts on something which are different to somebody else's thoughts. That's what we're looking for when we're looking for a thought leader, somebody to help shift our perspective. And to help us take action and go towards our dreams, our goals, our outcomes are transformation that we seek, and then we hope for and that's you, you have the opportunity to be that for somebody else. But I kind of think it's a lot harder when you're following all the trends instead of being the leader. So that's mistake number one. Now, mistake number two is posting all the time. And you know, if you go on Tik Tok, or Instagram, and there's all these theories about how often you should post three times, five times, 10 times, whatever times, it's a lot. And I'll be honest, if you are a younger person who does not have children, who has a little bit more time on your hands, it's going to be easier to do the three and the five and the 10 times a day. When I first started Tic Toc, I committed to three times a day for one full week. And I enjoyed it, knowing that it was only going to be one week. But the idea of then consistently doing that I knew I could not hold that up. It just wasn't in me. Now, here's the thing, if you are not somebody with less responsibilities, you've got the responsibilities, you got kids, you got a partner you've got, maybe you've got an a side job or something else that you're doing on the side of creating all this content gets a lot harder unless maybe you've got a team somebody or people that are helping you create content, which is great if you're at that, you know level where you can have that support. And if you're not and it's just you creating the content, then just posting once a day is enough, so that's doable, but you got to have a plan and you got to be a little bit more organized. To get yourself there, because then you don't want it to become that you're just posting stuff for the sake of posting things. And you're quickly running on Instagram or Tiktok, to see what the latest trend is to quickly throw something together that might go viral, right. So that's mistake number two. Now, mistake number three is not batching, your creation of content is sort of creating content on the fly, let's call it and look sometimes there's going to be moments where you're going to have times where you're creating content on the fly, like you're not always going to be able to be organized and batch ahead of time. But ideally, that's what you want to do, because it's going to make your life so much easier. And here's the thing, many of us have fallen into this visibility trap of over creating content and creating on the fly, because we're just so overwhelmed with all these social media influencers, preaching what they do, and saying this is, you know, the best way to get noticed and followers and likes and shares and bla bla bla bla bla, right, we're doing all the things. And that's just leading us to being tired, burnt out and feeling a little bit inauthentic. Because you're doing all these things that are out of your comfort zone. Am I right? Or am i right? So if you're like me, and time is gold, it is so important to you, and there's not enough of it, well, then I would rather create one quality piece of content and repurpose it to all the other places. So if you can do a combination of batching and repurposing, that is the secret to my success when it comes to content. And so for me, it starts with one thing, a podcast. Why? Because a podcast is a long form piece of content, and you can easily break it down into smaller pieces of content. And you can even record the video as you're recording the audio for the podcast. So that means you're saving so much time by repurposing and sharing content. It could be one week's worth of content just from the one podcast and if you have been struggling and running yourself a little cuckoo for Cocoa Pops because you're constantly creating content or following all these things that the social media people are telling you to do. Well, here's my advice. Have a look at someone you enjoy watching or listening to do they have a podcast, for example? Now, listen to one of their podcasts. And then I want you to go on to their Instagram or their Tik Tok and see, are they using that podcast on other platforms? Meaning Can you see video being taken at the same time as a recording podcast? Do you see a quote from the podcast? Do you see shorter clips from the podcast? Maybe an audio Graham? I betcha. If you look really closely, you're going to see some repurposing for sure. And if you're listening to this, and you're saying to yourself all but it's so overwhelming to even consider the idea of repurposing, I wouldn't even know where to begin well, I'm going to tell you where to begin. It begins with a podcast or a YouTube channel. It's as simple as that. So why a podcast or a YouTube channel is because it's a long form content platform, you can record for an extended period of time. And from there, once you record that episode, all you need to do is yourself or somebody else, pull a few things, you can start with just like one or two, even if you just do one. That's repurposing, okay, so first thing you want to do is pull, let's say a short clip, either six seconds to one to two minutes in length that you can share on Facebook on Instagram on tick tock. Again, this can be video it could also potentially be audio like for example, in audio Graham, is where you would hear a snippet of the podcast but you don't see anything on the screen. Maybe you just see the captions, the the transcription of what you're saying. And you could see like a little moving waveform, that's really fun to do as well for the audiogram. But you don't actually see the person's face, right. So that's the first thing you could repurpose. Another thing and so easy is listen to your podcast or watch your YouTube episode and take a quote from it. Something inspiring, something that will get people to think take something intentional to create a quote. And then from there, you can post that image of your quote and write a post all about it goes into detail about what that quote means. There you go. There's another example of repurposing and yours one final example. So easy Grab the transcription of the podcast and make it into a blog post that you can put onto your website. Again, so, so easy. So, yes, is it a little bit more work to repurpose, of course. But in the long run, it's going to save you time if you're constantly trying to create and think of different ways to show up on Twitter, to LinkedIn, to Instagram, to the TIC TOCs, to the this, that and the other, make it easy on yourself, create one big primary platform piece of content, and then break it down into smaller pieces. And because it has the possibility of being time consuming, have somebody else do it for you get a VA, or a service that can help you do this. So you can spend more time on those higher level tasks within your business within your brand. How does that sound? Sounds good to me. Alright, so that's it for today. That's a little bit on my take of what visibility means some of the mistakes, some of the things you could be doing right now to make it easier on yourself. Thank you so much for tuning in.
