Ok, here's my story.

Born and raised in Chicago, my dream was always to be an actress.  I even refused to go to traditional sleep away camp. Instead I had to audition to attend my camp, Interlochen Arts Camp and Carnegie Mellon University where I embraced all things acting all summer long.

So when I was 17, after begging and pleading with my Mom for years, I FINALLY got my first agent.  I started to audition but just around the same time I got accepted into Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Instead of going to my DREAM school to learn acting I decided to stay in Chicago where I attended Columbia College's Theatre & Film school. Here I could learn & audition at the same time and that made me so happy.   And because I didn't have enough to do already I also enrolled in a 40 week intensive acting conservatory in Chicago that changed my life and how I looked at acting!

As soon as I graduated I was on a plane determined to start my career in Hollywood.

It was there that I learned about all things voiceover and was honored to learn character voice from one of the best in the biz, Bob Bergen. I also focused on improv with a little help from The Groundlings and Second City.

And in a split second my path changed again when I randomly met an Australian on holiday in LA. Before I knew it I got married and moved to Australia.

So what does an American actress do in Australia??? Ummmm, I guess learn the Australian accent so I can continue to work. My Australian agent looked at me like I was crazy when I told her I wanted to learn the accent. I was told that nobody would hire me over an Australian.  Well, that just made me more determined to learn the accent.  And I did! I spent a year learning and speaking like an Australian until I felt like I could perform freely in the accent.

And you know what? It was challenging but I succeeded and I learned a whole lot about myself and what is possible. I started getting asked by others to teach them how to sound American. So I went back to school over at Victorian College of the Arts and learned about Voice.

Over the years I have developed my approach to voice & accent training in a totally different way.

I noticed flaws in my understanding of how to learn an accent AND I noticed that accent training and acting training seemed to be two separate things.  Why not bridge the gap in the learning process so that it's easier to perform in another accent?  And that's how I developed my system of training which incorporates accent, voiceover, improv and acting techniques all in one.

And hey, just for fun check out some of my favorite characters I've voiced. Yes, that's all me.
