Wow! This is amazing Katherine! It helps a lot. Definitely going to hear it again. I really need to get good on my confidence when speaking in English and the American accent is already helping me with the daily exercises that I’ve been doing. Thank you once again.
    Much love,

Thank you for clarifying the General American accent. It’s also great to know, that you’re enhancing your own speaking voice while learning a new skill.

Thanks Katherine, being of an older age I have slipped into the mimicry trap. Also become a little bit lazy with the exercises. Just had a VO demo done and it made me realise this. Working on it since then.

    Hello Katherine,
My agent advised me to add a general American accent to my tool box to increase the opportunities available.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Liam

The one thing that stood out is Patience. And not get hung up with not having an accent now!
I was inspired as my first real audition was to perform with an American Samoan accent. I don’t have one and I was encouraged to add this skill and open up more opportunities for myself as there are a lot of American productions shot here in Australia. Looking forward to Video 2
    Thank you

Thanks Katherine, I’ve always thought my ‘Real Voice’ could use more work where doing mostly film I’ve neglected it. So Number 4 definitely resonates with me a lot. Especially, now I’m trying to break into Voice Over I need both a believable authentic General American Accent and a dynamic strong Natural Voice.

    Hi Katherine,
Thanks so much for this wonderful video! I loved the part about confidence and not relying on mimicry! I’m an Aussie working in a North American market and I find my biggest challenge with the accent – which I audition in almost exclusively – is my confidence. I just don’t feel confident, even after working one-on-one with a dialect coach – and I am positive it shows in my auditions and my accent slips! Am looking forward to learning more from you so I can bridge this gap and figure out a process that works for me to really learn this accent authentically and fully.

Thank you very much for this wonderful video you have put together.
Confidence is king, but I come to speak in General American, I lose that confidence and slide back into Southern. I will be more confident and patient, not to bulldoze it.
Thanks again, looking forward working with you.

Thanks Katherine, a lot of food for thought. You reminded me of how decades ago I spent months learning an Australian accent from a New Zealand one – therefore if I can do that I can do this! Also: Have an energy of confidence when you speak (US) and be patient with your self. Baby steps! I love also how you bring in the performance…that’s key! Thanks again!

  14. Niraj says:

Thank you very much for this, I really need American accent, it’s really helpful when I go to America

This is so much valuable insight Katherine! Thank you 🙏. My number ☝️ reason is to leverage my acting career and to have more open doors to get more work and opportunities. I have been told I have a slight accent but my goal is to perfect it 💯! 🙌
